Rosarium Walk

The 8th of September held immense value to us for two reasons. Firstly it was the Feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary and secondly, it marked the climax of the JY International Intercession Week, where we extended the most cherished and perfect of all prayers to our beloved Mother, the 20 mysteries of the Holy Rosary.

Around 25 young and fervent individuals gathered at the towering Wellington Monument, to undertake a rosary walk together through the Phoenix Park in honour of our dear Mother's birthday. Organized by our avid and devoted Sanctum core team they made sure everything was taken care of. From the invitations to the birthday cakes and of course the innovative Rosary beaded with plastic balls and yarn, which we offered up to our Lady as a symbol of our prayers and intentions. A special thanks is also due to Alwin and Noble for the hand-painted cross and medallion that adorned the Rosary.

We meditated on the 20 mysteries and prayed for the needs of the nation Ireland, entire world, Holy Catholic church and Jesus Youth movement; while simultaneously trying not to trip over the dried grass in our path!! We then presented our sewing skills to our Lady, as we each offered two Hail Mary’s and pulled a needle and thread through two plastic balls. As everyone stood round the Cross, we finished up with a birthday song for Mamma Mary and hung our multicoloured Rosary around the Papal Cross. It was when I stepped back to gaze at this splendid sight that I was reminded once again of the sheer power of the Holy Rosary. I found solace in the assurance that no harm can befall me with my Mother’s love and protection enveloping me.
